Rodgers & Hammerstein’s second musical outing based on the 1909 play Liliom and one of their most loved musicals with beautiful numbers “If I Loved You” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. When Julie Jordan falls for carnival worker Billy Bigelowe their love blossoms and they marry quickly even though they come from different worlds. One month later and Julie reveals to her friend Carrie that Billy is frustrated with his unemployment and has hit her. When crook Jigger comes into town Billy is persuaded to take part in a robbery to provide for the child Julie is carrying. But when this goes wrong Julie is left alone and has to provide for her daughter whilst Billy watches on. Will be given his heavenly reward.
