The Dancing Years

This 1939 musical play follows Rudi, a penniless Jewish composer, who works in an Austrian country inn. His best friend since childhood is the innkeeper’s daughter, Grete, and they plan to marry one day. But in comes Maria, a beautiful opera singer for whom he composes successful operas and they fall in love. After a misunderstanding Maria leaves and passes off her son with Rudi on her new husband, Prince Metterling. As the Nazi threat rises Rudi finds himself sentenced to death and only the Prince can help.
