CHELMSFORD CITY COUNCIL HOUSING CONSULTATION – METEOR WAY

 WE DID IT!

UPDATE JANUARY 2018

Here is the official fantastic news that we have all been waiting to hear, the Meteor Way site and the HQ has been removed from Chelmsford City Council’s Housing Development plans. On behalf of both Young Gen and caods, thank you to everyone who had anything to do with the campaign. This is amazing news and we can all breathe a sigh of relief that the HQ will be left alone at least for the immediate future.

STRATEGIC GROWTH SITE 1c – METEOR WAY INCLUDING CAR PARK AND ADJOINING LAND Owned by CCC.
Council Response / Action
This proposed allocation has been removed from the Local Plan.  This is due to new information relating to uncertainty that a key part of the land will become available within the Plan period; and the uncertainty of being able to relocate important community users to suitable alternative premises.

UPDATE DECEMBER 2017: We have heard from Chelmsford City Council that the decision that was due in October 2017 will be slightly delayed but we hope to let you know of any updates as soon as they are released. Thank you all for your continued support.

We have been told by Chelmsford City Council that a proposed development of houses has been shortlisted for the site of our HQ. This would mean the relocation of the CYGAMS (Young Gen) and caods societies. This also affects many other groups and clubs down Meteor Way such as the Scouts, Air Cadets, Chelmer Cycling Club, Weston Dance School and the Gun Glub. We are disappointed in this and believe that we should not be relocated due to the many specific facilities we all have on our sites and our close locations to the town centre and theatres. To find out more about the history of caods, who will be celebrating their 100th anniversary shortly, please visit our History page.

Thank you to everyone who filled in the questionnaire, hopefully all the responses will make a difference. If you think you would be able to help us in any way please contact Claire Carr at info@caods.com. We will be continuing the fight so please keep an eye on our website and social media pages for more information.
